Louise Radinger

I make films and write about film.

I am pleased to be presenting a paper in May 2025 at the Real and Imagined Spaces conference in Zaragoza.

My book 'Women and Home in Cinema: Form, Feeling, Practice' is now available from Palgrave as part of their 'Close Readings in Film and Television' series.

You can buy the book at a generous discount from the BFI shop on Southbank (with thanks to the folks at Palgrave).

Still from The Book of the Dead (Kihachiro Kawamoto, 2005, Japan).

Update: as of the end of May 2025 the BFI shop is temporarily offline - it will be back soon.

I am now working on a videographic essay about 'The Sound of Music' (Robert Wise, 1965).

I have made several short films, two of which have won awards. I have also worked in film festival curation and curated film festivals.

Alongside my work in film I have performed and directed in theatre, with a particular interest in telling stories through shadow theatre, puppetry and opera. I studied shadow theatre at the London School of Puppetry, in Bamberg with Norbert Götz and in Turin with Controluce.

I have a BA in Drama from the University of Manchester and an MA in Film from the University of Westminster.
